Facebook has failed me for first time.
It didn't accurately describe his relationship status.
And since i apparently couldn't rely on him for that information, i had to find out a month too late.
she's fantastic. polite, funny, and well dressed
she thinks my eyes are pretty, and is madly in love with my shoes
i'm madly in love with her boyfriend.
and i want to be her best friend.
i still haven't been told.
but when she introduced herself there was this assumption that she had been mentioned;
a hope that she had been spoken of, and that i would recognize her name.
she hadn't. i didn't
So, the question is left out there in the open SCREAMING, "Why didn't he just tell you?!??!?!"
And i really don't know the answer.
maybe he just sees me has his alt-bro buddy
just one of the guys who comes over to smoke
that he doesn't mind sharing his drink and watching movies with.
or maybe i was to assume that a guy that well-spoken, intelligent and funny
was already accounted for.
To comfort myself i look to my lovely new funnel hoodie, and the fantastic black sheath dress that has left me so poor that i can't afford to eat.
that and foreign sci-fi films.
what would i do without you La Jettea?

caution.
The Decemberists new album was leaked later last week.
The Hazards of Love is very good.
However, upon listening, i recommend that you give time to listen to the entire album straight through.
It's very rock opera-esque.

Top Ten Albums [ep's too!] of 2009 [thus far]
1. Dark Was The Night - Various Artist.
This album is incredible.
2. Noble Beast - Andrew Bird
I've had this so long that it doesn't seem like it came out in 2009
Nevertheless, it is sooo good, and I can't wait to see him in April.
3. Set 'Em Wild, Set 'Em Free - Akron/Family
"River" is FANTASTIC.
4. Blood Bank - Bon Iver
Down modded due to ep status, otherwise it would be number three on my list
I hate myself for not being able to go to the concert in December.
I blame christianity.
5. Merriweather Post Pavilion
It's good. You can't really deny it. Rothbury?
6. Lost Channels - Great Lake Swimmers
:)
7. Grrrr... - Bishop Allen
8. First Love [with Bonus] - Emmy The Great
9. Hold Time - M. Ward
10. Jaydiohead - Jaydiohead
I hate mashups, usually. But mixing Jay-Z with Radiohead...
Dirt Off Your Android anyone?
that's ok.

obsessive/complusive
whilst writing a paper for my dreaded UCWR course i came to realize that i obsess over many of my possessions. I don't like everything equally, ever.
i always pick favorites.
1. my iPhone
2. my tan boots
3. my skinny black jeans
4. argo tea
5. Modest Mouse, Joanna Newsom, and Andrew Bird
this of course, is true of people too.
sometimes you won't see me for a week, and then i'm your best friend again.
i'm not planning on changing, so everyone else should get used to it.
in other news, i look awful today. jeans, sweater, cardigan, flats. i look like i rolled out of bed into some overly-average looking girls closet.
i've already had two people comment "you look tired".
thanks, i know
and then while writing this, i notice the girl in the booth in front of me.
i love her dress, and the cardigan she chose to wear with it.
however, the height of her boots, plus the sock/tight combination she went with sucks.
like really?
Current Obsessions:
BBC News, reddit.com & The Washington Post
-this is how i know whats going on, outside of my little world-
lookbook.nu, the sartorialist & sea of shoes.
-good looking people, wearing excellent outfits and taking pictures-
Trader Joe's
-cheap organic/natural food. with the new reports out about HFCS, and the collapse of the economy, world governments and the agricultural industry, how could you shop at Wal-Mart? Hopefully if you do, you'll get trampled, or die of Hg poisoning.... -
Sleeping, Peanut Butter & Scrubs
-I'm pretty sure that if I didn't get to enjoy these three things i would cry-
Why I'm Pissed Off:
The Corn Industry
- "You know what they say about HFCS.." Yeah assholes, 1/3 of 55 Brand-Name products that contain it also contain Mercury. And you are running commercials during afternoon television (which targets children and teens, who consume upwards of 30 teaspoons of HFCS on a DAILY basis) that tell them its perfectly okay. Fuck off. -
The Weather
- It's cold, cloudy and wet. There was no sunrise today.-
People who are Unnecessarily Rude.
- Why? What are you accomplishing? I am always polite to strangers,
or people i barely know. At least to their faces.
and that's all i ask of you.-
Magic "Fix-It" Solutions
- Whether it's 825 Billion Dollars or a Sham-WOW, it's absurd.
And it's not nearly as appealing after two seconds of having it.-
also, where did all the _ _ _ go? and i'm not talking about rum.
Lastly, I got tickets to Andrew Bird, at the Civic Opera House on April 9th.
jealous? you should be.

Portrait of a Lady
I think i have the doldrums.
Sleeping has become a major part of my life
and i basically don't want food
These two issues could be fixed by hibernation, but running and class seem to get in the way.
I'm also in love with my history class
I know i have said this before, but it truly does make me happy in ways that last semester failed me.
It makes me WANT to read.
Who knew the economic world system of the Indian Ocean could do that to a girl?
I still haven't heard back from Trader Joes. :(
and i thought they liked me.
So instead i have come up with a back up plan.
Sam Adam's Alliance.
yeah, i bet you have never heard about it
"Founded in November of 2006, The Sam Adams Alliance is a "to-do tank" that educates, informs, and empowers citizens about important political issues through a set of new media tools (i.e. Blogs, Facebook, YouTube, Wikipedia) that allow ordinary people to fight big government."
sweet right? and i get to work in the loop. [i love downtown chicago]
it doesn't pay nearly as well, but it's a good back up.
let's hope something works out. i'm poor
finally, whilst reading someone else's blog, i realized that i too took the Myers/Briggs personality test. Unlike the author of the other blog, i thought my personality to be right on the money (yay! for cliches)
I am a ENTJ (Extraverted iNtuitive Thinking Judging), better said as an Extraverted Thinker with Introverted Intuition.
Qualities of Note:
* Genuinely interested in people's ideas and thoughts
* Enthusiastic and energetic
* Take their commitments very seriously
* Fair-minded and interested in doing the Right Thing
* Very good with money
* Extremely direct and straightforward
* Verbally fluent
* Enhance and encourage knowledge and self-growth in all aspects of life
* Able to leave relationships without looking back
* Able to turn conflict situations into positive lessons
* Able to take constructive criticism well
* Extremely high standards and expectations (both a strength and a weakness)
* Usually have strong affections and sentimental streaks
* Able to dole out discipline
Also i am "Sexually robust, imaginative and enthusiastic. Their natural instinct to lead will be apparent in this arena as well as other areas of life, and they will lead their partner on creative lovemaking adventures, where the focus is on mutual learning and affection sharing. They're likely to expect sex on a relatively scheduled basis."
Sex Fiend.
Off to Argo Tea and Lunch!!!!
ps. Obama's president. And as much as i am excited about a new president, especially one that was the lesser of two evils, i am not nearly as ecstatic as the rest of the world. Take it down a notch folks, nobody is perfect, and he hasn't done ANYTHING yet. And the fella has a lot of work to do.
* Enthusiastic and energetic
* Take their commitments very seriously
* Fair-minded and interested in doing the Right Thing
* Very good with money
* Extremely direct and straightforward
* Verbally fluent
And the fella has a lot of work to do.

best weekend ever.
college has done well for me.
i now know many useless bits of knowledge, like what the origins of the Flemish textile industry are, the mating habits of bonobos and why having a relationship with a omnipotent higher being can lead to isolationism, satanization and sexually oppressed 18-25 year old males.
i sleep whenever i can.
i drink absurd amounts of tea/coffee
and i call my mother on a strangely regular basis
but mostly, this weekend was great.
i'll sum it up using key words/phrases:
bonding time with romy/erin/lauren, lost, potbelly's, dragon, alex k. fine, skully's, steven glancy, North Star, Flower Child, bubble tea, midget porn, glitter, camera fun, more bonding time with romy, lil' wayne?, donnie drunko, Kerouac Kafe, goodbye, lost(again), just kidding, mac and cheese, nap-time, dave/matt, pita pit, jake's, goodbye(fo' real?), cold, one-hour later, looking gross, HOT, 6:40.
sorry for the short post.
pictures? you betcha

charitea.
charitea-it's my new favorite thing at argo.
i like it even more then their white tea, which is a godsend.
it tastes like cherry pie, and 10% of the cost goes to charity.
everyone wins
meanwhile it is bitterly cold here.. so i'm wearing pants (read:lame)
the current temperature is -8 degrees.
but according to the weather channel it feels like -25.
i agree.
i walked to the apple store to tell them about my shuffle and my lips/fingers/eyes froze the moment i walked out the door.
my only saving grace was that i was carrying a cup of coffee.
Things I'm Currently obsessed with (other then charitea):
The skirt Lauren got me for christmas and the boots i bought on sunday

My History Class: Capitalism and Empire : 1250-1650

Boys who wear big glasses
They have been ALL over lookbook.

..... and charitea.
lots of it.

horoscopes and hummus
Saturday i moved back into my dorm, i really did miss that 16 x 14 + bathroom space.
It has hot showers and my lovely down comforter
Lauren and I hung out in her dorm, then tried to get food from rambler.
Fail. Loyola sucks at feeding us
So we went to Indie Cafe, which was delicious.
After stopping to get our fav treat (read:warm delights)
we went back to her dorm room to catch up on Dexter.
That really wore us out.
Sunday i woke up and relished in the fact that i could watch anything on tv without someone questioning it or trying to watch NCIS.
I hate NCIS
Then breakfast, it was so bad i didnt eat
Then the bookstore, where i dropped $200.
Lauren, Joe, and I then headed downtown to go to Trader Joe's and Urban to buy me boots.
I found a pair of Frye boots that i adored but my arches did not like.
They fit lauren perfectly
did i mentioned they were marked down from $178 to $29?
yarly.
Over to Joe's for pizza, curb your enthusiasm and family portraits.
We even got rick to take pictures.
We are just so darn cute.
then a run.
Breakfast, Bookstore, and Trader Joe's for a Job app
it went very well... even though i'm a hot mess
Today is my first day of Feminist Theory.
I have no information on the class.
Fail #2 for loyola.
sorry for no pictures. blogger is hatin' on me

back in town.
I'm back in Chicago (read:happy) and currently residing in 4909.
In two hours I'll move back to regis, but right now I'm enjoying the view
which happens to be Chicago, white out style
last night was pizza and Monty Python, followed by some Anderson Cooper and Rachel Maddow.
I'm still not to sure about her. but she's growing on me.
Then some serious couch sleeping.
Current Obsessions
:
The Washington Note. It's very good.
Rachel Maddow gave me him.
more points to her

The Swell Season.
check out track 7. it's incredible
and it goes without saying...

i love oatmeal.
top it with dried fruit and nuts
or applesauce
or peanut butter.
i just really love it.
oh, and this

i love this girls hat
and the color of her tights
found her at lookbook.nu
enjoying the view.
missing some peeps
glad to be home.

over lunch
Saturdays antiquing was incredibly fruitful, i found an incredible Spanish/Band-esque cropped navy jacket made from silk. The edge is scalloped with gold brocade. It is a beautiful sight to be seen. The lady at the shop told me it was Victorian, but i will ask the booth owner tonight the approximate age of the piece.
There is some damage to it, all of which is entirely fixable. Some of the seams have just come undone. Otherwise it is perfect, no stains or rips in the fabric. The fit is incredible. Perfectly tailored
I also picked up a piece of luggage for $5, it is teal and has a wonderful clasp at the end of the zipper. I love good metal detail! I cleaned and conditioned the leather sunday, and it is definitely going to be my new overnight bag.
From the same booth i picked up a gift for Lauren, later going back to pick something else up from Emily. They both are great pieces.
Brendan and i then ventured back to java, and i stopped at Frank's for Halvah.
It's a delicious sesame treat!
Later that night i was showing my mother pictures of the YSL 1970's Trench featured under my current obsessions in my last blog, and she ran upstairs to the attic, returning with a 1970's Christian Dior Trench similar to the one in my blog!!!!!
It's men's, a size 38 i believe, but is in PRISTINE condition. I have spent hours drooling over this jacket since. The wool/silk lining zips out, and there is a silk lining underneath that. I PROMISE pictures will follow.
I'm going to have it slightly tailored, some tacking in the waist, for it is just too big in that area.
If only i could convince her to give me her motorcycle jacket, my father bought it off a german guy who was in need of quick cash. It's late 1970's - early 80's with a vintage Harley Davidson Motorcycle pin. I've never seen her wear it but she keeps telling me she will!!! Hopefully she will soon give in. I love that jacket.
Back to Work.

close, but not quite
new year, new blog
it reminds me of the livejournal i had in the 8th grade
i had to delete it when my parents found it and were upset by the fact i swore.
oops.
i really miss chicago
the reg, 4909, ice skating and the fam.
even the nasty lsd food. good conversation accompanied all of my food
to make up for all of this while stuck in grand haven i am doing some serious vintage shopping
as well as torrenting ridiculous music, playing on ebay and watching complete seasons of showtime series.
currently obsessing over:
1970's Vintage YSL Trench
You and Me by Little Brazil
I can't even get it off of What.Cd

Taryn Rose; I found a pair of her flats at Nordstroms and they were spectacular
A pale blue floral, but i couldn't afford them
and now i can't find them anywhere else
off to the antique mall to pick up trinkets for my friends!!!
