Saturdays antiquing was incredibly fruitful, i found an incredible Spanish/Band-esque cropped navy jacket made from silk. The edge is scalloped with gold brocade. It is a beautiful sight to be seen. The lady at the shop told me it was Victorian, but i will ask the booth owner tonight the approximate age of the piece.
There is some damage to it, all of which is entirely fixable. Some of the seams have just come undone. Otherwise it is perfect, no stains or rips in the fabric. The fit is incredible. Perfectly tailored
I also picked up a piece of luggage for $5, it is teal and has a wonderful clasp at the end of the zipper. I love good metal detail! I cleaned and conditioned the leather sunday, and it is definitely going to be my new overnight bag.
From the same booth i picked up a gift for Lauren, later going back to pick something else up from Emily. They both are great pieces.
Brendan and i then ventured back to java, and i stopped at Frank's for Halvah.
It's a delicious sesame treat!
Later that night i was showing my mother pictures of the YSL 1970's Trench featured under my current obsessions in my last blog, and she ran upstairs to the attic, returning with a 1970's Christian Dior Trench similar to the one in my blog!!!!!
It's men's, a size 38 i believe, but is in PRISTINE condition. I have spent hours drooling over this jacket since. The wool/silk lining zips out, and there is a silk lining underneath that. I PROMISE pictures will follow.
I'm going to have it slightly tailored, some tacking in the waist, for it is just too big in that area.
If only i could convince her to give me her motorcycle jacket, my father bought it off a german guy who was in need of quick cash. It's late 1970's - early 80's with a vintage Harley Davidson Motorcycle pin. I've never seen her wear it but she keeps telling me she will!!! Hopefully she will soon give in. I love that jacket.
Back to Work.
